Introduction to literature as both verbal art form and cultural force. Readings in a variety of forms and from different periods and traditions all focused on a common theme (themes vary by instructor). Emphasis is on reading complex texts carefully and responding to them through discussion and in writing.
This class was taken because it would cover my tier I literature and thought requirement. Unfortunately I found the professor to be on the dryer side, because every class all we did was do a close reading of the homework from the night before. It was also a 8 am class, which I have not taken since. Looking back though it was a good base for my literary knowledge I will surely need in the publishing world and gave me things to compare newer authors to.
Final Grade: A
